Raleigh mayor Mary-Ann Baldwin talking about the beautiful addition to the downtown area, especially Fayetteville Street, knows as Main Street Raleigh. The museum is at a great location, one block from the capitol building in Raleigh.




The North Carolina Secretary of State, Elaine Marshall, was the day's guest speaker and explained her own introduction to lacemaking while an exchange student in South America. She explained her own excitement on having the museum in Raleigh, viewing it as a source of learning for visitors and lacemakers alike, mentioning the classrooms that are ready for newcomers, young and old. She welcomed the relatonship with the Smithsonian in D.C. and the planned exhibition of special collections at the museum in Raleigh.
