The museum's signature lace creation
There is a good reason the floral Bucks Point handkerchief edging by Kristin is the #001 item at the museum. Once completed, she wanted it framed on a brown background and displayed in the home on a wall that became a place for many other pieces. Kristin wanted to have these and other lace creations shown to others, and the idea of a small exhibition was mentioned. Through the foundation's efforts in her name, the concept evolved into a museum today known as the Raleigh Lace Museum. The picture above shows the cover of the Winter Bulletin in 2018 by the International Organization of Lace, Inc. featuring the edging. The smaller top picture shows the start and the turn at the second corner, while the middle picture shows the pillow and the bobbins used. During the artistic arrangement of the museum, the top edge and right edge were used as part of the mural painted by Tonia Gebhart

Our stunning collection features over 400 years of lace making.
This table presents lace from every century, starting in the 17th century, with an edging of an altar cloth from Bruges. Beautiful Mechlin-type lace pieces were used as edgings for priestly vestments. Every piece has a story so we recommend visiting with a docent.

Check out our event brochure below!
The museum is now available for weddings and gatherings, such as dinners, cocktail parties, and private meetings. The museum items on the wall always stay in place, providing a pleasant and decorated room for any event.

Lace collar with metallic thread
The Egyptian-inspired collar is made in a contemporary lace style and is fully wearable. Come and see more of these unique pieces!

New collection coming soon!
The Lace Center in Bruges has agreed to loan us a fantastic lace collection for several months. This magnificent lace is attributed to the city of Binche in Belgium and is a style practiced by experienced lacemakers. We will dedicate an entire table to this collection next to the pillow with a sample of Binche Lace Kristin was working on. We will exhibit the collection during the member-only event on December 15th, when a docent will provide historical context to this collection.
